Scheduling

If you register for this class you are required to present a paper. This seminar is run in conjunction with the DeLuca lab journal club. Your presentation date will be scheduled by Wendy Hellwig. If you have any conflicts please talk to Wendy as soon as possible (hellwig@biochem.wisc.edu; 262-5208; room 277 Bchm Addn). When choosing a paper to present, please make sure that the paper?s topic fits the topic of "Molecular Mechanisms of Hormone Action", and that it is fairly recent. Also, check on the course website to ensure that the paper was not previously presented during our journal club. To see the previous papers, click on the 'Calendar' tab and then click on 'Switch To Complete View'

General

The class will be held on Fridays at 11:00 am in room 175, Biochemistry Addition. Out of respect for the speaker, please do not be late.
As soon as you choose your paper (preferably by the Monday immediately prior to your presentation date), please email the citation and pdf to both instructors, Julia Zella (jzella@biochem.wisc.edu) and Wendy Bedale (wbedale@biochem.wisc.edu). The paper to be presented will be announced via email and the Biochem 911 website before Friday so that you may read the paper if you wish.

Grades

You will be graded mostly on your presentation and critical evaluation of the paper, but attendance and your earnest participation in completing evaluation forms for your fellow students will also influence your grade. Following your presentation, you will receive comments from your instructor(s) in addition to the evaluation forms filled out by your peers. However, your grade for the course will not be assigned until the end of the semester.

For information on presentations: Presentation Guidelines.pdf

If you have any questions please feel free to contact either Julia Zella (jzella@biochem.wisc.edu; 262-3099 X 3259; 259 Bchm Addn) or Wendy Bedale (wbedale@biochem.wisc.edu; 262-3099 X 3260; 259 Bchm Addn).
