The University of Wisconsin-Madison provides a rich environment for
students and scholars to explore new ideas, to sharpen their scientific
skills, to enhance their creativity, and to develop an understanding of
how to direct the results of their research to towards solutions for
society.
UW-Madison is a rare comprehensive institution with outstanding
programs in virtually all fields of science, providing fertile ground
for innovative, interdisciplinary research. In 2006, UW was second in
the nation in overall research and development expenditure, reflecting
the faculty’s success in competing for research grants across the full
spectrum of science. The University is perennially among the top five
universities translating research into patents, licenses and new
companies, with over 300 patents filed this year and a booming biotech
industry growing around the university.
The Khorana program is making possible the exchange of students between
select Indian institutions and the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
Undergraduate Khorana Scholars from India will spend the summer in
research laboratories at UW, mentored by UW faculty. They will have the
opportunity to become part of major research programs with
international teams of scientists. In exchange, Khorana Scholars from
UW will be placed in laboratories of Indian partner institutions for
similarly enriching experiences.
Here are the current opportunities for participation in the Khorana Program for Scientific Exchange:
