Yimin Zhu received a BS in Chemistry
in 1995 and a MS in Physical Chemistry in 1998 from Xiamen University (China)
and a Ph.D. in organic chemistry in 2004 from Stony Brook University. His graduate
work focused on three projects: 1) development of an efficient synthesis of
geminal disulfones; 2) computer-guided design and synthesis of a sialic acid
receptor; and 3) design, synthesis and evaluation of a biomimetic catalyst for
hydrogen bond-stabilized enolate formation. His postdoctoral research focuses
on the use of cofactors (flavin and folic acid) in organic synthesis.
