Five research groups form the core of structural biochemistry at UW-Madison. These include two groups using primarily NMR (Butcher and Markley), two groups using X-ray crystallography (Holden and Rayment), and one group using a combination of experimental and theoretical methods to study protein structure and dynamics (Phillips).
